Rockland Job Network ( a sister group of NhN )
The Rockland Job Network is comprised of a peer to peer network of individuals seeking employment and new challenges in their careers. The group started in October 2011 and meets twice per month at various libraries throughout Rockland County. These free meetings are an open dialog that includes discussions of job search strategies-motivation, branding and networking techniques; trainings available to enhance skills and ideas on how to find that great job. It is a platform for information and speakers who can help, teach and encourage. Information about career fairs and other networking groups and events is also presented.
If you are searching for a job, changing careers or under-employed, please join our energetic and caring group. Hopefully you will feel refreshed and re-invigorated in your career planning and search.

Topic: ELEVATOR PITCH REDUX --- Jacqui Drechsler facilitator.-- 60 seconds that could change your life ….Are you ready for it? Do you know what to say when someone asks you: “What do you do?” Can you quickly, creatively say who you are, what you are good at and what you can do for a potential employer without having to fumble for words? Ultimately are you memorable? We are returning to this basic topic for the new year because it is so important. The new year is a good time to reflect on whether or not what you are saying is doing you justice. So here we are again to critique your elevator pitch and to go over the basics of how to create a great one.

Rockland Job Network (RJN) join RJN LinkedIn Group
The ROCKLAND JOB NETWORKING (RJN) came together when the Rockland County Guidance Center (RCGC) was de-funded and closed its doors in November 2011. Many people went to RCGC for their weekly job club and supportive guidance, and some participants wanted to stay together to keep motivated and continue networking. We knew that RCGC could never be replaced, but some of us decided to do our best and take what we had learned at RCGC and share what we could with others. We also wanted to make sure we continued networking and supporting one another in our own job searches.
The RJSNG is a group of hardworking unemployed people who are helping one another with their job searches and career planning. We network with and constructively critique each other so that we can use what we learn to help find our dream job. We brainstorm, listen without judgment and support each other’s hopes and dreams.
Keeping motivated is one of the hardest things about searching for a job. Getting together to help ourselves and others helps to keep us motivated too. Networking is essential to a successful job placement. Looking for creative and varied ways to network is one of our top priorities. We have found that the search can be fun and it doesn't have to be done alone. We come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience to each meeting.
Our meetings are participatory in nature and so far they have been held at different libraries. They are FREE and open to the public. Our goal is to make our job searching tools better and better, keep up our networking skills, and motivate ourselves so that we all find work that we love
